Sorry to have been away for so long! I’ve been busy with moving, a family members wedding, and work. Hope you had a great 4th of July:) I recently read an article about the dangers of parabens in beauty products and it lead me to want to make a change in my beauty regiment.

According to the Breast Cancer Fund wesbite, whose aim is to help prevent breast cancer by exposing the environmental causes of the cancer, parabens are used as a preservative in many shampoos, conditioners, lotions, antiperspirants, and more. In studies, some parabens mimic the hormone estrogen and without getting into all the nitty gritty of the scientific data, they can lead to breast cancer.

So how can you reduce your exposure to parabens? Read ingredient labels. Parabens are often found towards the end of the ingredient list. Avoid products that contain ingredients ending in the word -paraben. Legally, a product must tell you if they are paraben free, which is a huge help. I’ve also done some research to help make your next shopping excursion a little easier.

(Clockwise from top left) Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar is a highly-pigmented lip stain/gloss that is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Lip Tars come in over 45 different shades are run for $18 a tube.

Oribe Surfcomber Mousse is also paraben and sodium choloride free and creates touchable, beachy hair without weighing hair down.

Juice Beauty Green Apply SPF 15 Moisturizer is up next. This moisturizer is lightweight, provides broad spectrum sun protection, and contains alpha hyrdoxy acid to fight fine lines. The cost is $38 per tube.

Make Up For EverPro Finish Foundation comes in over 15 different shades and can be used wet or dry for a customizable level of coverage. This product is also paraben and mineral oil free and lasts for up to 5 years!

Malin + Goetz Eucalyptus Deordorant. I know natural deodorants can get a bad rap, but as person who does not sweat very much, I don’t have to wear deodorant every day so this is a reasonable option, but I know that for many of you out there, you may need the maximum strength so feel free to skip and keep reading :) If not, check it out!

Healthy Sexy Hairproducts. These products contain soy to moisturize the hair and provide effective cleansing without the use of parabens.
